Be watchful in parking lots.

Avoid parking in lots often isolated from the public.  Keep your eyes and ears open as you make your way to your car and avoid walking between cars to get to your car. You become a greater target when you walk between cars.

Don't let your kids walk to and from anywhere alone

Never allow your children to walk, play or take out the trash alone. It's becoming more dangerous for our children to do many things alone.

If you can't pick them up or accompany them, ask a trusting family member or friend to help out.

It takes a community effort to keep our children safe.

Don't meet with people online you never met in person

Many kidnappings happen when people meet for the first time someone they met online.

This is a very unsafe way to meet people and once kidnapped, it will be hard for family, friends and law enforcement to help you.

Don't do it!

Avoid Tech Distractions

Your eyes should be focused on the surrounding area an not on your phone. It literally takes seconds to be kidnaped and if your phone is a distraction while you walk, you are more likely to become a victim.

Under no circumstances should you talk with strangers

Never talk to people approaching you on the street. No matter how sincere they sound or how harmless they may appear to be, adults know that they should get help from other adults and would not ask a child for help. People asking children for help should be avoided and reported to local law enforcement immidialty.

Never go anywhere with anyone who threatens you with a knife or gun

Some will try to force their victims to go with them by brandishing a gun or knife.

Do not GO, We repeat, DO NOT GO with anyone who threatens you with a gun or knife.

They are trying to get you out of the public eye so they can do what they want with you.  They will tell you that you won't be hurt if you go with them. They are lying.

Once alone, you will have no one to help you.

Instead, fight, kick, scream and run.
